[Yona nods.] Friends of mine. Some of them I knew from my own world... [She pauses, considering her next words.] ...and some I knew from the world or place that kidnapped me before this.
[She still can't believe it. There was no way any of them could escape from Haven. Some of the captives had been there for years. Any yet, she somehow was taken here. She can only guess that it was another kidnapping. But that doesn't explain why most of her friends don't remember Haven. Why her? Why did she retain her memories from that horrible nightmare, but then have no previous memories of this place?
She smiles sheepishly, sadness lifting to the lavender hue of her eyes.] It's a bit complicated and difficult to comprehend, even for me.
That kind of sucks. [What else can he say to an explanation like that? Apologies won't really mean much, comfort isn't really viable when they aren't close and she's more confused than anything else right now. At least is seems that way.
Instead he opts for asking her something else instead.] Was the other world just as bad as this one?
[Though she probably can't answer that for sure, just yet. She might have some sort of idea though and that's what he's hoping for.]
Mmn. That's a good question. [Yona cocks her head in thought.] We were experimented on in Haven. They tampered with our minds, our bodies, our memories. Food was scarce. It was more technologically advanced than any place in my world, similar in some ways to Inugami.
[Her voice lowers to a near whisper.]
There were monsters. Unnatural disasters. Disease. Torment. None of my friends remember it, so I have no way to compare it to this place.
But in Haven... we were allowed outdoors. We arrived with our weapons. We at least knew the name of our enemy, even if much of what we discovered was shrouded in mystery.
It... sounds worse, from what I've seen here. I mean we aren't really given weapons here, but we don't remember anything when we're taken. I haven't seen many people get sick here either, though there is a monster that lurks around at night.
[He takes a long pause.]
Though I've been here months already and we don't have much information about what's going on at all.
[That's a small relief at least. It is weird to her that they lack specified residences and that they are confined to indoors most of the time. If their kidnappers are capable of using what she can only guess is magic to keep them here, it wouldn't be such a difficult feat to do the same thing even with more access to the grounds on the outside of the school. There was a very clear boundary they were not allowed to go outside of in Haven. Although there are many things to potentially keep her busy, some of which might offer her the opportunity to continue her training, it feels even more unnatural than Haven in that they are trapped in a building used for academic purposes.]
But the opportunity to receive weapons still exists, right? [She's holding out hope for that.] Are... any of your friends from your world here?
[Yeah, the fact that they're sort of expected to attend class and there isn't anywhere to sleep kind of makes the situation all the more strange in a sense. Her question makes him pause though, because while he knows some people have regained powers over time or some have found weapons in their lockers, he isn't sure it's how she means.]
I know people who found stuff in their locker, but it's not something that's asked for or anything. [And ah...] Yeah, a bunch of us camp out near the gym.
[She blinks, trying to make sense of his explanation.]
You mean your belongings just suddenly appeared? Things that people desire but don't ask for?
[Despite her confusion, she offers him a smile, glad to hear that he isn't alone. Even if it is bittersweet having her friends here, it would be much harder to face this without them.]
The items my friends have gained, they are things they would have wanted from our world.

[Though... well. At least some things they want show up too?]
